President's Report
Dear fellow members,
Firstly Happy New Year to all and wish you safe boating and that you all catch the fish of a life time.
Christmas holidays at Bermagui is always fun, the weather was great with lots of sun and plenty of time down the beach. The fishing days unfortunately were only a few but the quality of fish was outstanding. Steve Pearce captured a blue marlin weighing in at 170.2kg on 24kg line and also tagged 3 striped marlin over 4 days fishing – what a great way to start the season in his new boat!
Little Allure is on the score board as well with a 90kg striped marlin to Mark Grenda. Straitout captained by Paul Mills tagged a magnificent Mako of 300+kg at Tuross, a 1.5 hour fight saw the fish coming up still green and the crew definitely nominating release!
Batemans bay is fishing very well with great catches of marlin reported; Bermagui is also fishing very well especially now with the bait turning up. The kink and Tuross areas are fishing well and also great kingies to 10kg at the island. In Victorian waters, Inverloch turns on kingies 8-13kgs, the better fish on poppers with Lee Rayner starring!
Final stages of our Rhyll tournament are being arranged with an awesome prize pool available. Early entry lucky draw will win a Samsung LCD TV proudly sponsored by Harvey Norman Chadstone and the lucky angler draw is a 25HP BRP Eveinrude E-Tec. Rapala Freetime is our major tackle sponsor with great Makaira reels up for grabs - check out the prise pool on our new website and entry forms also available on our website.
