President's Report

Tournaments

Preparations for the new fishing season are now well underway with two Tournament meetings being held to date.  The VGFC is responsible for managing the Alliance T&R Tournament at Bermagui this year.  As this is the 20th Anniversary the Tournament Committee will be working hard to differentiate this tournament from previous events.  Andy Fennessy and David Grimwood are the Alliance representatives and a Sub-Committee has been set up to assist them.

Planning for the Rhyll Tournament commenced after the first Tournament Meeting and is progressing well.  The sub-committee is being chaired by Peter Svilar.  Peter is keen to progress the tasks and to explore ways to improve the tournament.  We are also investigating running another tournament in Victoria.  More news on this after the Tournament Committee meets again. So, the Tournament Committee is going to be busy with 4 Tournaments to run and we will have more opportunities to compete, especially in Victorian Waters.  On behalf of the Club I would like to thank all of the members who are donating their time to participate in the various Tournament related activities.

Presentation Dinner

We had a great time at the Presentation Dinner.  Congratulations to Arthur Mihailidis for a well deserved win of the President’s Trophy.  Special thanks to Ellise Higginbotham , Brian & Margaret, Lawrence Lesic, Steve Pearce, Jaq Stuelten and everyone who helped ensure that the night was a great success.

Cheers,  Geoff.
