President's Report

What a hectic month!  Congratulations to Andy Fennessy & David Grimwood for organising the VGFC portion of the 19th Alliance Tag & Release tournament.  The tournament has a very loyal following and has its 20th anniversary next year and we are looking forward to a bumper year to celebrate the anniversary.

The Easter tournament was a great event with 33 boats and 112 anglers completing.  The fishing was extraordinarily slow, with a cold current coming up from the south.  Congratulations to the winners (see 'Club Documents/Tournaments' for the results) and a huge vote of thanks to all involved in the organization and running of the event.

The guilty parties are: Arthur Mihailidis, Jaq Stuelten, Gerry Rodrigues, Alex Stuelten, Maris Dumburs, Peter Archdeacon, Andrew Fennessy, Ellise Higginbotham, Colin Nunn, Graham Pearson, Adrienne Pearson, Rod Johnston, Steve Pearce, Lawrence Lesic, Vanessa Stuelten, Kate Pearce.

I would like to extend a big thankyou to our loyal and long-standing Major sponsors Penn, Yamaha & Lowrance

Thanks also to all of our other sponsors:  Rinnai, Topgun, Wellsys Tackle, Stormy Seas, Club Marine, Mako Sunglasses, Bermagui Country Club, Bluewater Magazine, Black Pete, Wizard Tackle, Caltex Forbes, Bridge Motors Bermagui and Anaconda.

The tournament was made possible by the generous support of our sponsors.  Please reciprocate by buying their products/services where possible and by letting them know that your purchase has been influenced because of their sponsorship.

Don’t forget that there are still 3 boat championship weekends left and they are “All designated waters” weekends.  The 8th Boat Championship is all from 25th to 27th April, followed by the Canberra Yellowfin Tournament 17th to 19th May and finally 7th – 9th June.  Fishing for the 2007/2008 year concludes at 4:00pm on 9th June.

Regards, Geoff.
